Obscura Press was founded when

I finished restoration of an 80-

year-old Vandercook No. 17 Composing Room Cylinder proof press in May of 2009. I named

her Clara B after the It Girl of 1930, the same year she rolled out of

the factory in Chicago.

Printed pieces shown here include church fans, handbound books

and broadsides. All were printed using wood and metal handset

type and once in a while, a carved linoleum block.
